Dear Parents-
February officially ends tomorrow. Even though it is the shortest month of the year, for some reason it always feels so long. I attribute that to the lack of light and the cold temperatures we experience. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a real thing for many of us, and it was great to receive such a healthy dose of sunshine this past week! I have been so grateful for the (dare I say) balmy temperatures and wonderful light! It makes me dream of spring just 21 short days away.
The Lenten Season begins this Wednesday, March 5th with Ash Wednesday. On Monday, we will be introducing students to our service project. This year we will be working to help The Water Project. Look for more information coming home on Monday. I hope your whole family can get involved! Besides service (or almsgiving), we also ask students to make a prayer goal and a fasting (giving up) or abstinence (staying away from) goal. Help your child prepare their hearts for Easter through these simple, yet meaningful, ways we enter into these 40 days of sacrifice.
While we wait for winter to end, we have some fun things coming up. This Friday, March 7th. We will host our 1st ever DMCS Meat Raffle! Please plan to join us for fun and fundraising from 6-9 PM that evening. This event is being held in place of the annual scholarship gala and is meant to raise funds for scholarships. Every dollar raised will be given to those who need financial assistance to attend our school. Thank you for your generosity and help in this important endeavor. We are working to include more people, have more fun, and raise more scholarship dollars. Tickets can be bought in advance by contacting the office. Can’t attend but want to help? The silent auction will be available online and include a fund-a-need area for scholarships. Every dollar raised goes to help students at our school. Please spread the word!
We spring-ahead to daylight savings time on Saturday night, March 8th when we set our clocks ahead one hour. This is always one of my least favorite activities as we anticipate spring. It seems like it takes a few weeks to adjust to this time change.
ALERT! The deadline for filling out TADS is tomorrow, Friday, February 28th. If you are hoping to apply for scholarship dollars for the 2025-2026 school year, you must complete TADS. You do not have to have your 2024 taxes done to fill out the form. Taxes from 2023 can be used. This online application can be found at https://www.mytads.com/ Please do not wait. You will not be eligible to receive financial assistance if you do not fill out this form. We want to help, but tuition assistance dollars run out quickly. Thank you for your help in selling our Catholic United Financial raffle tickets. If you have not already done so, please return the tickets you have sold along with the money so that we can get an accurate update on what we have earned. If you do not plan to sell the tickets, please turn them in to the office as well. Every ticket must be accounted for.
Please take note that there is No Bus Service on Monday, March 3rd. Faribault Public Schools are closed that day.
With God, All Things Are Possible!
